Editorial Policy & How We Research

Our Phoenix Life publishes practical guides to food, activities, attractions, parks, neighborhoods, shopping, and everyday places around Phoenix and the greater Phoenix metro area.

This page explains how we research, write, review, and update our content.

Our Editorial Goal

Our goal is to create useful local information that helps readers make plans. We prioritize clarity, accuracy, current details, and practical context over hype or promotional language.

How We Research

Research varies by topic, but we generally prioritize primary and current sources. These may include:

  • Official restaurant and business websites
  • Official menus and location pages
  • Official happy-hour or promotion pages
  • City, county, state, park, and government websites
  • Official attraction and venue websites
  • Official tourism information
  • Official social media when necessary to confirm a recent change
  • Current business listings and other reliable local sources when useful for verification

For information that changes frequently—such as hours, menus, prices, happy-hour schedules, admission fees, event dates, business locations, or park rules—we try to use the most current reliable information available when an article is prepared or updated.

What We Do Not Invent

We do not invent prices, menu items, hours, addresses, promotions, parking details, reservation requirements, admission fees, amenities, seasonal dates, or business policies.

If a detail cannot be reliably verified, we may omit it or clearly explain what is known.

Firsthand Experience

Our Phoenix Life does not present researched information as firsthand experience.

We do not claim that our editorial team visited a restaurant, tasted a dish, stayed at a hotel, walked a trail, or personally tested a business unless that experience genuinely occurred and is appropriate to disclose.

Most of our guides are designed as researched local-information resources rather than personal reviews.

Recommendations and the Word “Best”

We do not automatically call something “the best” simply because that wording is popular in search results. When firsthand comparative testing is unavailable, we generally prefer factual titles and descriptions.

If a guide makes comparisons or highlights particular places, we aim to explain the factual reasons those places are relevant to the topic rather than implying personal testing that did not occur.

Original Value

Our articles should provide more value than a simple rewrite of one source. Depending on the topic, that can mean combining information from several official pages, organizing menus and prices into useful tables, comparing multiple locations, clarifying schedules, adding neighborhood context, explaining parking or reservation details, or answering practical questions that are otherwise scattered across several sources.

Source Independence

Businesses may contact us with corrections or updated information, but inclusion in a guide does not guarantee favorable coverage. We aim to keep editorial decisions separate from promotional requests.

If Our Phoenix Life introduces sponsored content, paid placements, affiliate relationships, or other commercial arrangements, material relationships will be disclosed where appropriate.

Updates and Freshness

Local information changes often. We may update articles when restaurants change hours, businesses open or close, menus are revised, event dates change, or other material facts become outdated.

We do not use an “updated” or “last checked” label merely to make an article appear fresh. When such a label is used, it should reflect a genuine review or update.

Corrections

If we confirm that an article contains a material factual error, we aim to correct it. Minor edits for grammar, formatting, clarity, or broken links may be made without a correction note.

For more information, see our Corrections Policy.

Editorial Identity

Articles are published under Our Phoenix Life Editorial Team unless another accurately identified contributor is used in the future.

The Our Phoenix Life Editorial Team creates practical guides to Phoenix restaurants, happy hours, activities, attractions, neighborhoods, parks, and everyday places around the metro area. Articles are researched using official business information and other current local sources, then reviewed for clarity, usefulness, and accuracy.
